Terms of Service
Last updated: March 7, 2026
Agreement
By using HelpYap ("the Service"), operated at helpyap.com, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. These terms apply to all users — whether you're managing a project or an end-user chatting with a HelpYap-powered widget.
What HelpYap Does
HelpYap is an AI customer support platform. You upload your documentation, embed a chat widget on your website, and HelpYap answers your customers' questions using AI. When the AI can't help, it escalates to your team via Slack or email.
Your Account
- You must provide a valid email address to create an account
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
- You are responsible for all activity under your account
- One person or organization per account — no shared accounts
Beta Service
HelpYap is currently in open beta. This means:
- The service is provided free of charge during the beta period
- Features may change, break, or be removed without notice
- We will give reasonable notice before the beta ends or pricing is introduced
- We do not guarantee uptime or availability during beta
Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you upload to HelpYap — including knowledge base documents, project configuration, and team data.
By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to process it for the purpose of providing the Service (i.e., feeding it to the AI model to answer your customers' questions). We do not use your content for any other purpose.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload the content you provide.
Conversation Data
Messages between your end-users and the HelpYap widget are stored to provide the Service (conversation history, analytics, escalation context). You are the data controller for conversations happening on your website. We are the data processor.
AI-Generated Responses
HelpYap uses AI (Anthropic Claude via AWS Bedrock) to generate responses based on your uploaded documentation. While we design the system to be accurate and grounded in your docs:
- AI responses may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete
- You should review your knowledge base to ensure the AI has correct information to work with
- HelpYap is not a substitute for professional advice (legal, medical, financial, etc.)
- You are ultimately responsible for the support experience on your website
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use HelpYap for illegal purposes or to facilitate illegal activity
- Upload malicious content, malware, or content that violates others' rights
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or abuse the Service
- Use HelpYap to spam, harass, or deceive end-users
- Resell access to the Service without our permission
- Deliberately attempt to make the AI generate harmful or misleading content
Integrations
When you connect third-party services (Slack, email, webhooks), you authorize HelpYap to send data to those services as part of the escalation flow. You are responsible for your own compliance with those services' terms.
Termination
- You can delete your account at any time
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
- Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days
- We may retain anonymized, aggregated data for analytics
Limitation of Liability
HelpYap is provided "as is" during the beta period. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. This includes but is not limited to: lost revenue, inaccurate AI responses, downtime, or data loss.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the product and business evolve. We'll notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
